Practical support for your professional and private self.

Clinical Supervision
Clinical supervision is and essential part of developing a framework of practice. All counsellors work differently – and bring different skills and experience to the profession of supporting the mental health of others. To do this safely and professionally it is important to check our thoughts and strategies, eithical decisions and personal boundaries with an objective professional supervisor regularly.

Counselling
People are an important part of our lives, but they can also be a challenge. Understanding the complexity of relationships, both personal and professional, can be overwhelming at times and sometimes we need some help.
Don’t Wish it was easier, wish you were better.
Don’t wish for less problems, wish for more skills.
Don’t wish for less challenge, wish for more wisdom.
This is my favourite quote. It suggests that living life is not an easy thing to do. Despite the many blessings of living in a democracy and having easy access to many of the things we desire and need, contentment can be difficult to find.
We often aspire to happiness, success, intimacy and many other things but ‘life’ can get in the way.
In the moments when the way forward seems impossible or too much to bear, a counsellor can help clear away the confusion or doubt by supporting individuals, couples and families to find the future that gives hope and the skills needed to make that future possible,
Why is counselling useful?
There are many things we are taught in the earlier parts of our lives, as children, adolescents and teenagers that simply do not stand the test of time. Once we have embarked upon our adult lives and develop personal experience some things just don’t make sense and we need new ways of thinking and behaving to overcome the challenges of life, at work, in relationships, in families and so on.
Counselling is a tool we can use to help us figure out who we are, and who we want to be as we grow and engage with the world we live in. Why just be stuck with what we are given when we can choose something else?
Of course the hard part is making the changes needed to achieve our goals. This is where a professional counsellor can help. Professional counselling can help with the process of change and offer tailored support with challnges encountered on the way.
David Jones
I’ve been a counsellor for over ten years but before that I worked in a variety of industries with a multitude of characters and personalities. What I’ve learned is that we often face the same human problems regardless of the pathways we take.
I chose counselling as a career, rather than psychology or social work (though I have studied both of these), because I feel that practical, “real-life” support offers the most promising outcomes in terms of changing our unhealthy behaviours towards ourselves and others.
